Leaving a Legacy – Gifts in Your Will

Types of Bequests

There are two main ways to include SAiF in your will:

Specific Bequest – Designate a specific dollar amount or a particular asset, such as real estate or publicly traded securities. For example, “I leave $50,000 to SAiF to support their programs and initiatives.”

Residual Bequest – Leave all or a percentage of your estate to the SAiF Society after other obligations (e.g., debts, taxes, gifts to loved ones) have been fulfilled. For example, “I leave 10% of my residual estate to the SAiF Society to be used where it is needed most.”

“I direct my trustees to deliver, pay, or transfer $_____________ or ________ % of my residual estate or to donate ____________________ (name of asset) to STOP ABUSE IN FAMILIES (SAiF) SOCIETY (Canadian charitable registration number 120971304RR0001). This gift is to be used for such purposes and designs as deemed appropriate by __________________________ .”
