Paint the Town Purple

A city wide campaign in St Albert to raise awareness of Family Violence Awareness Month & engage our community in raising funds for SAiF families.

Throughout November, we're going to be splashing St Albert in purple! That's because this year's fundraiser is a month-long campaign in partnership with local businesses, community organizations, and local residents. This replaces our long standing Red Shoe Gala.

Local Businesses Pledged to the Campaign

Participating businesses have pledged an amount to support SAiF families as part of our Paint the Town Purple campaign. By working with their customers and getting a little marketing support from us and our friends at the Gazette, the Chamber of Commerce, and the City of St Albert, they aim to raise funds for our counselling programs. Our business partners are doing some awesome things this November - from purple cocktails and milkshakes, to spa & whole body treatments, eye exams, furnace cleaning and straight up donations, there's a whole range of things to tempt you this November and we encourage all those who support us, to support our local business partners. You can see the full range of what they have on offer here: https://www.stopabuse.ca/paint-the-town.

If you get one of our scratch cards at a participating local biz and win a prize - those will be either gift cards through the Chamber through their Meet me in St Albert program - where the cards can be used at various local businesses, or will be for Pearson's Independent Grocery Store. Keep that winning card and show it to us and we'll get you your gift card!

Local Community Members Getting Involved

We're also doing a special Paint the Town Purple Kick Off Breakfast to encourage local residents and community organizations to also get involved with the campaign. All attendees will get a purple ribbon and window decal to show their support for our families. And if they make a pledge at the event, they'll get an extra special gift! The breakfast is scheduled at Central Social Hall on St Albert Trail for Wed Nov 10th at 8 am. Invited guests include Michael Cooper, MP for St Albert-Edmonton, Honourable Dale Nally, Associate Minister of Natural Gas, MLA for Morinville-St Albert, and Marie Renaud, MLA for St Albert, and St Albert Mayor and Council. You can get your tickets up till Nov 7th right here:

Special thanks to Imprint and Purdy's chocolates for donating some wonderful products for our special gifts.

Didn't get a chance to hit our breakfast? You can still make a pledge to support our families and get a special gift, too. Just click here to make your online monthly donation and let us know you want to be a part of the Paint the Town Purple campaign and we'll contact you with your free gift, ribbon, and decal.

Other Cool Ways We're Splashing Some Purple

Oct 27-Dec 3: Starting with a full page spread on Oct 27th, the Gazette will be running ads all month long on the campaign and it's progress. And they are generous sponsors to the campaign.

Nov 1-7: You may notice the Cory's Jiffy Lube on the Trail will be decorated in purple for help launch Paint the Town Purple right at the start of the month!

Nov 1-30: The St Albert Library will have book & resource displays on family violence prevention and anti bullying materials that you can review and borrow. They'll also be distributing purple ribbons, too!

Nov 1-30: The St Albert Family Resource Centre is distributing purple ribbons all month long in support of the campaign!

Nov 4-30: The St Albert Chamber digital board will be lit up with a purple themed billboard. And they are generous sponsors to the campaign.

Nov 12: Mayor Heron of the City of St Albert is kindly doing a proclamation for Family Violence Prevention Month (we'll be posting the video on social media) as well as doing a flag raising on Nov 12th for Paint the Town Purple.

Local schools and other community organizations have been invited to do a little something purple-y, too. We'll be updating this blog and our Paint the Town Purple webpage with all schools that have committed to the campaign.

What Do the Funds Raised Go Towards?

All the funds raised will make it possible for us to ensure that local families who need our services can access them without barriers like cost. By supporting these local businesses, and/or making a donation yourself, you'll be helping 100's of local families deal with the impacts of abuse. Help us Paint the Town Purple this November!
